Oh the many smiles of Eve.... :) She's such a coy one! We've got smiles for everything from muted amusement to downright HILARIOUS. She smiles at so many things these days! And the cooing....oh the cooing...I love it!

Both Eve and Iris are doing great and our little lives in Iowa City are chugging right along. Eve continues to do better with her gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and we're so pleased with the incredible difference that the medication is making. The major trick to that is just getting the medicine to go in and stay down! And now that the food is staying down, she's starting to pack on the chub. While she's no match for her sister at this age - the cheeks are filling out! I just want to eat them. She is also starting to fall into a better pattern throughout the day which has been very helpful to me. She still struggles quite a bit to lay flat on her back to sleep because of the GERD, but we're finding creative solutions...and thinking about buying stock in bouncy seats.

Iris is also changing everyday and we're amazed at some of the things that she does and the things that fly out of her mouth. She mimics EVERYTHING, and the pics of her "changing" her baby's diaper are a testament to that. While I was washing dishes she went and got the changing pad, wipes and a small diaper out of the diaper bag and laid them out on the floor. Then she went in search of "Baby" (her baby doll) and proceeded to clean that poor thing up! SO cute. She's starting to learn her colors (favorites are "puple" and "lell-ow", but especially "GEEN!"). While most of what is coming out of her mouth is still some form of alien language, more and more is recognizable and she's putting two words together now - mostly when it's about food. (Surprised? Yeah right.) Current favorite activities are coloring, brushing her teeth, and calling the dogs for the sheer fun of it.

Erik has been pretty busy with work lately and unfortunately has been gone most nights. I know he misses being home and the girls definitely miss him. The upside of this though is that I've discovered I'm officially a good "juggler". Thank goodness, since Eve needs to eat or needs something when Iris is in the middle of a bath, at her bedtime, or the like. I hear people talk about wanting a third hand all the time, but I've decided I'd like four. I'm also recovering my second case of mastitis and slowly but surely starting to feel normal again. I don't know what the world would be like without antibiotics!

Here are a TON of fun pics!

LOVE. IT. I can't wait to see all of you in December.

I remember that I had a little doll and her name was "Baby" too. I don't know if I ever changed her, though - I apparently wasn't as attentive a mother as Iris is. :) Also, now that Iris is getting bigger I think that her hair looks a lot like mine did when I was a kid. Beth, maybe you'll get a curly-haired (or at least wavy-haired?) kid after all!

Loved the long update. It sounds like my perfect little nieces are keeping you guys very busy. I will pray for continued recovery from the mastitis and GERD.

Love you!
